Les Roberts was raised and educated in Dublin Ireland and developed an interest in Martial arts at a very early age. Mr Parker of Elvis Presley fame was the trainer to many of Hollywood's famous Movie stars and became a close friend to Mr Roberts. Having a great hunger for Travel he enlisted in the Royal Navy in the early 70's as a Radio operator later specialising in Naval Gunfire Support and Forward Observation. Completing this training at Royal Marine Barracks Poole, This duty included Infiltration, relaying enemy intelligence and directing Naval Bombardment. Still constantly studying martial arts, he was later selected for Royal Yacht Squadron duty, where he continued to teach and study on board the Royal Yacht Britannia under the encouraging Eyes of the Admiral, Hugh Janion and crew. Having previously won the HMS Mercury light-heavyweight Boxing championships, competing in and promoting inter-service tournaments, his skills in karate and boxing made him a natural for the relatively new sport of Kickboxing. Then known as full contact karate. Completing the Bicentennial tour of the United States, the Montreal Olympic Games, followed by the Queen’s Silver Jubilee world tour 1977, He had many opportunities to visit many gyms world-wide gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge making many new friends in the process. After leaving the service Mr Roberts continued training teaching and promoting Kickboxing, and martial arts, and working with international organisations produced many champions from regional to world title level taking contestants to many parts of the globe. Gaining even more experience from well into many hundreds of tournaments, workshops and seminars for which he is grateful to have been able to partake and contribute, he say’s he is still learning and appreciates the beauty of life and what it has to offer while in the pursuance of inner contentment. His hobbies outside of martial arts are swimming reading and art appreciation.
Mr Roberts is still teaching and promoting. He has asked that his warmest appreciation be conveyed to the many People who have aided and supported him throughout his career.
